Bringing Home Vin Gris...AKA Cookie!

Dash was adopted on Saturday! We are so happy that Dash found his furever home!

Today, we picked up our next foster, Vin Gris. We didn't feel that the named fit the Oreo colored dog so we decided to call her Cookie! She is just the sweetest dog you will ever meet. When we arrived to pick her up she ran up to us and gave us lots of kisses. She met several new dogs that day and sniffed them all and wagged her tail with excitement. One dog even nipped at her and Cookie did nothing!

We spent some time out side running around and playing with a tennis ball! After she was done, she laid on the concrete to cool down.

We took Cookie for a long walk and she seemed to really enjoy it. She spent a lot of time rolling around in the grass. She didn't take care of any of her business on the 30 minute walk. She did begin to tinkle in the house about 2 hours later. We took her back out and there she took care of all of her business. We are guessing she is not housebroken yet, but she is young and in a very new setting!

After a lot of playing and exploring Cookie decided to find a soft spot to nap!

See you tomorrow, Cookie!

Dash meets someone his own size!

Our 9 month old niece is in town visiting from Virginia. We were nervous about Dash meeting her since he doesn't always do the best with new people, but he LOVED her! Her licked her hands, face, and feet while she giggled.

Dash spent a lot of time following Norah around. She even pulled his tail and he didn't growl or anythig at her!

Playing in the rain...

The great thing about Dash is that even when it is raining, he doesn't care. As long as you are willing to walk him, he's willing to go with you!

What Dash has been up to...

Sorry that it has been so long since the last post, life just got away from me! Here is what Dash has been doing the past few weeks...

Rummage Sale Supervisor

A few weeks ago we had a rummage sale. Dash didn't want to miss a thing, so he spent most of the days sitting outside while people drooled over him. He absolutely loved getting pet by complete strangers!

Lying down on the job
Shopaholic

Lately Dash has been chasing after everything with legs. We decided that he needed a harness during his walks. It took a few days for him to get used to it, but now he loves it!

Player

Since Dash loves to play so much, we decided to make him a few dog puzzles. We simply place a few pieces of kibble in his puzzle and he spends 15-30 minutes trying to solve it. He gets really excited any time you bring it out!

Helper

Dash loves helping with the household chores...

...well, he likes to sleep on the freshly folded laundry.

Salon Goer

Dash was getting pretty scruffy so we took him to see Lori and she gave him a new do!

Before...
Hey, where are my eyes!?
After
Handsome!
The new do took a lot out of him... he slept the entire drive home

Dash's Holiday Weekend

Dash had an exciting 4th of July weekend. On Thursday we had a neighborhood fire. Dash wanted to come with and this is what he did the entire time...

We tried to wake him up to play with the other dogs...

But he just wanted to sleep. He slept in on the 4th, too!

A Peek at Dash's Week

Dash had a busy week last week! We have been working on Dash meeting the neighborhood dogs. He barks and barks whenever a dog passes by, so we figured it might help if he got to know the dogs. We have been on several walks with Tank. Dash wasn't too sure at first, but now looks forward to his time with Tank.

Getting braver
While I have been teaching summer school, Dash has been free to roam around the first floor of our home. For the first two weeks - no accidents (go, Dash)! Yesterday, when I arrived home I noticed he had peed on the living room rug. I think Dash holds his pee in the morning to mark certain spots and didn't mark enough. Today, I took Dash on a different route and came home to no accidents!

While I was cleaning up his accident yesterday I decided to vacuum the rug. Dash didn't like hated it. I have never heard him bark/cry like that. I think from now on one of us will take him for a walk while the other vacuums!

We have been working hard on teaching Dash a few simple commands. He is becoming more consistent with "sit" and "paw" without treats!

good boy!
Dash gives me kisses as he also does paw
Yay Dash!
Today I decided to see how Dash would do if I went for a run... he can run for about .75 miles and then he's over it. He was awfully tired when we got home!

While I sat outside reading yesterday, Dash looked through the fence for his friend, Tank!

Dash is really learning how to play with his toys. He whips them around and will even bring them to me to throw. He will repeat this about three times and then he's over it. Considering he wouldn't even look at his toys when he arrived three weeks ago, he has come a long way!

We are off to pick up Tank for our walk!
